Updates have been added to my resume and the the "Recent" gallery section with new works and videos. Also, I have reworked and improved a video from "2006". In terms of the gallery navigation, I have updated thumbnails for videos to help distinguish them from other works available for viewing. Also, on the video pages themselves, I've included brief descriptions of the works. My directed study series of zoetropes is coming along slowly but surely, as well as the accompanying research paper, which will be posted in the "Writings" section upon completion. In other news, I've begun investigating grad schools that offer MFAs in Electronic Media/New Genres and look forward to gathering my application materials!

::YAWN:: Summer is almost over and I made solid A's in all my enrolled courses (overseas and at home). However, I am still going to resist the urge to sleep, be lazy, etc -- you know all that stuff most students do in the summer -- because I've got some major brainstorming and preliminary art to be contemplating!! This coming semester, starting August 27th, landmarks my SENIOR YEAR!!! That's right, folks! I'm enrolled in 4 classes, Mondays and Wednesdays only, including Intermediate Electronic Media, Site/Sound/Installation, and Directed Study Studio and History courses. hopefully all of these courses will be working toward a final body of work, which I will accomplish in my final semester. Anyways, just though I'd share.

UPDATES have been finalized for the site!! Purchasing can now be completed with PayPal security and donations are also accepted (and encouraged, of course ;P). Also, I have decided to reduce the price PERMANENTLY for digital prints to $25.00 (including shipping and handling). I hope you all enjoy the modifications to the site and if you would like to be emailed when the site is updated, don't hesitate to submit your email and join the mailing list!!
PS - My Paris/Venice 5 week study abroad experience was AMAZING! It's definitely refreshing to leave the country you've resided in your whole life to gain a better global and personal understanding of who you are and where you stand. I'm already making plans for next Summer for a 7-week excursion to Florence. I wish this new found interest in international traveling could be less expensive!

Oracle Excerpt:"...[T]he School of Art and Art History Award for $300 [was] given to Desiree D'Alessandro for the mixed media piece, "Like Son." The piece is an arrangement of pill bottles with labels colored white, gray or black. [...] In order to fully understand the intent of the artist, though, it is necessary to view the piece next to "Like Son" called "Unlike Daughter," also by D'Alessandro. "Unlike Daughter," also a mixed media piece, consists of the careful arrangement of colored pills instead of pill bottles. However, similarity exists between the two pieces because the pills [and bottles] are also labeled either "mother" or "father." But instead of carefully forming the image of a man, the colored pills are arranged to form the image of a woman." (MORE)

These are a bit more appropriate if your interested in current projects, writings, thoughts, or happenings about my life (and thereby extension: my work... since they are one and the same.)
